Forester (Vanpal)
As laid down in Rule 27 and Schedule-IV of the Rajasthan Forest Subordinate Service Rules, 2015:
General knowledge at Senior Secondary level with specific reference to the state of Rajasthan, covering everyday science, mathematics, social studies, geography, history, culture, art and current affairs — questions of an objective type.
Forest Guard (Vanrakshak)
General knowledge at Secondary level with specific reference to the state of Rajasthan, covering everyday science, mathematics, social studies, geography, history, culture, art and current affairs — questions of an objective type.
What this means in practice
The board does not break this syllabus into a numbered topic list — the notification states it as a single paragraph, and that is the whole of it. So the honest reading is:
- Everyday Science — physical and chemical changes, light, human body, common diseases, and science you meet in daily life.
- Mathematics — the arithmetic of school level: percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, interest, and simple mensuration.
- Social Studies — polity and civics at school level.
- Geography — of Rajasthan first, then India: physical divisions, climate, rivers, soils, forests, wildlife, minerals, population.
- History — of Rajasthan: dynasties, freedom movement, integration; and the outline of Indian history.
- Culture and Art — fairs, festivals, folk deities, folk music and dance, costumes, ornaments, handicrafts, forts and monuments.
- Current Affairs — with the state's own events given weight.
The phrase that matters most in the notification is "with specific reference to the state of Rajasthan". In every subject above, the Rajasthan-specific portion carries the greater weight.
Difference between the two posts
The subject list is identical. The standard is not: Forester questions are set at Senior Secondary (Class 12) level, Forest Guard questions at Secondary (Class 10) level. If you are preparing for both, prepare at the higher level and the lower one is covered.
