Eligibility — Junior Engineer

• 4-year full-time BE / B.Tech or AMIE from an AICTE-recognised institution, in the relevant branch (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil)
• Working knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script
• Final-year students may apply if the degree is obtained before document verification

Age Limit

• Minimum: 21 years
• Maximum: 40 years (43 years for RVPN Electrical and Civil posts)
• Age relaxation as per Rajasthan Government norms for reserved categories

• General / UR: Rs. 1000
• SC / ST / OBC / MBC / EWS / PwBD: Rs. 500
• Fee is non-refundable

Selection Process

Selection is through a Computer Based Test (CBT) only — there is no interview. Shortlisted candidates are then called for Document Verification.

• Qualifying marks: 30% for General, 20% for SC / ST / OBC / MBC / EWS / PwBD

Exam Pattern — Junior Engineer

• Duration: 2 hours  |  Type: Objective (MCQ)  |  Negative marking applicable
• Part-A (60%): Branch-specific engineering subjects
• Part-B (40%): Reasoning, Mathematics, General Knowledge, General Science, Hindi and English

Preparing for Part-B

Part-B carries 40% weightage in JEN and forms the bulk of the paper for the non-technical posts. ExamWise has free practice sets for these sections — Rajasthan GK, General Knowledge, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and General Science. Branch engineering (Part-A) is not covered.

Salary & Pay Scale

• Junior Engineer (JEN-I): Pay Matrix Level L-10, basic pay Rs 33,800 per month, plus DA, HRA, TA and medical allowances.
• During the two-year probation/training period a fixed remuneration of Rs 23,700 per month is paid.

Selection Process

• Computer Based Test (CBT) — single written exam.
• Document Verification.
• No interview. For Junior Assistant / Commercial Assistant-II a typing test is held after the written exam.
